Core Identity
The Galataree Awakening Method is a practice of liberating the mind through movement a Mai, or sacred dance, in which the body gives voice to the feelings held quietly within.
At its heart lies Sen-Galataree (in Thai, กาลทารี - Ga-La-Ta-Rée, also known as Kalathari): a meridian found nowhere else but in the 2,600-year lineage of Thai traditional medicine, and long held as one of its most closely guarded secrets.
Rather than receiving treatment from another, here you move your own body along this living line of energy - guided, in the moment, by your breath and by the parts of the body that ask to be heard.
Nothing is choreographed in advance. Each session is improvised for the person before us; there is only the movement you need today.
Session: approximately 3 hours. Please prepare comfortable clothing you know well and can move freely in.
The Origin Story & Discovery
For more than twenty years, Kaori Endo devoted herself to the study of Sen-Galataree, this singular energy concept of Thai traditional medicine.
In time, a conviction took root in her - quieter than the pursuit of clinical evidence, yet far stronger: that the liberation of the mind need not be something done for us by another, but something we can awaken from within ourselves.
Searching, day after day, for a way to bring this to the world, she encountered a shaman on the island of Bali and received a revelation.
From that destined meeting, the Galataree Awakening Method was born.
Its origin, it is said, lies not in Thai at all, but in Pali, the ancient language of India. To Thai people today the word and the concept it carries remain obscure, and those few who could once have explained it have since passed from this world. For this reason, the path to understanding it could only be walked through Endo's own original research.
A note on spelling: The Thai term (กาลทารี) is pronounced "Galataree." Although it is occasionally romanized and read as "Kalathari," Kaori Endo has chosen to unify the name as "Galataree" - a decision drawn from the interviews she conducted with native Thai speakers throughout her years of residence in Thailand.
Research, Lineage & Stem Cell Validation
Over more than twenty years studying Sen-Galataree - the singular energy concept native to Thai traditional medicine - I sought to give its effects a measurable form.
To this end, I carried out a study assessing the stress response of stem cells in the blood after a single hour of Sen-Galataree treatment, evaluated through PBMCs (peripheral blood mononuclear cells).
Yet because this knowledge was transmitted as a closely held esoteric teaching, its inheritors have grown fewer with each passing year.
During my years in Chiang Mai, between 2016 and 2020, I followed every account of a living lineage, however remote, journeying deep into the country in search of it.
Even so, nowhere in Thailand did I find a true successor able to unravel the essence of this line.
With the passing of Master Chaiyuth in 2004, and of Asokananda in 2005, I was left to walk this path alone, unravelling the meaning of Galataree little by little, by my own hand.
Through those years I was sustained by the boundless kindness of Ajarn Samart Monnarai of the Wat Po Thai Traditional Massage School in Bangkok, and of his wife - whose patient teaching, offered again and again across more than twenty years, I hold in the deepest gratitude.
This is a tradition of rare depth and beauty, and I am resolved that it should pass intact and rightly understood - to the generation that follows.
I welcome those who feel called to share in this vision. If your path and your expertise might meet with ours, I warmly invite you to be in touch.
Medical & Therapeutic Indications
In Thai traditional medicine, the Sen-Galataree line is traditionally associated with relief across a wide range of conditions: diseases of the digestive system, indigestion, hernia, paralysis of the arms and legs, knee pain, jaundice, whooping cough, arthritis of the fingers, chest pain, shock, rheumatic heart disease and cardiac arrhythmia, sinusitis, pain in the arms and legs, angina pectoris, epilepsy, schizophrenia, hysteria, and various psychic and mental disorders.
For this reason it is also known as the emotional, or psychic, line.
The therapeutic indications above are drawn from the energy-line research of Asokananda (Harald Brust) and Chow Kam Thye, as set out in The Art of Traditional Thai Massage and its accompanying Energy Line Chart.
Kaori Endo kept vigil at the passing of her Thai master, Chaiyuth Priyasith, of the lineage of The Old Medicine Hospital in Chiang Mai, and walked alongside Asokananda and Chow Kam Thye through their final years and so came to carry their tradition forward.
